The French are
famous for their enjoyment of life, "joie de vivre" and good
food and wine are an important part of everyday living.
French wines are considered the best in the world and who
can resist their delicious breads, cheeses, sauces, soups
and desserts. The French consider cooking an art.
During April and May the vineyards are green. In late
August, wineries bottle last year's crop to free up their
barrels for the new harvest that takes place in September
and October. The weather is mild and generally pleasant
during those months. Some wineries don't have time for
tourists during the time when they pack their grapes. Best
to call ahead.
